This Rhode Island Brewery Is Located In A Former Macaroni Factory

There are at least 30 breweries spread across America's smallest state, with the majority clustered around Providence and Pawtucket.

Those on the western side of Rhode Island do have one very special spot to call their own - Grey Sail Brewing, which is located inside a former macaroni factory.

You can find this unique brewery at 63 Canal Street in Westerley where the Westerly Macaroni Factory once stood. Built in the 1920s, the building that once processed grains into pasta, now turns a different grain mix into beer!

The brewery's name is a nod to the owners' love for all things nautical. The website reads:

"Sit on any beach in New England and enjoy the views of rolling waves, glistening waters and grey sails on the horizon… it is truly inspiring. Those grey sails inspired us to keep moving forward, and here we are."

Grey Sail produced their first beer - Flagship Ale - in 2011 and have been going strong ever since. They offer a variety of year-round standards as well as seasonal favorites.

Enjoy a Flying Jenny Pale Ale in the spring, a Hazy Day Belgian Wit in the summer, a Dave's Coffee Stout in the cooler months, or sample a limited edition brew every two months from the Wheelhouse Creative Ale Series.

In addition to the vintage macaroni factory, the brewery also features a new taproom for you to sit and sample a few beers. In keeping with the theme, the taproom is located in a local historic home.

The tasting room is decorated with cozy furnishings and offers plenty of space for socializing or playing a game of cards.

When weather permits, you can also enjoy the outdoor patio space. It's dog-friendly!

Grey Sail Brewing is open Wednesday - Friday from 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Saturday - Sunday from 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.
