This Maine Corn Maze Was Just Named The Best In The Country

October is for haunted hayrides, hot apple cider, and corn mazes. If you want to get lost - and found - in the maze USA Today readers recently named the best in America, head to Treworgy Family Orchards in Levant, Maine.

“Treworgy’s, the longest continually running corn maze in Maine, covers 4 acres and is made from some 60,000 corn plants grown to a height of about 10 feet tall,” USA Today wrote in its 2018 10Best Reader’s Choice Awards.

Each fall since 2001, the farm has offered a new, surprising corn maze design for guests to weave and wander through. It all started with a giant piece of popcorn, and subsequent designs have included Paul Bunyan, elephants, dragons and a locomotive.

This year's maze is titled “Corn Ships Ahoy!” and consists of a giant pirate ship, a compass rose, and a dolphin.

Each group is provided with a special map to guide them to stations within the maze and present riddles to solve. For an additional challenge and an increased scare factor, attend one of the yearly Night Maze events.

Be sure to sign your name on the Hall of Fame Board when you find the maze's center! Once you complete the puzzle, bring your ticket to the cafe to receive a free kiddie soft-serve ice cream cone.

Treworgy Family Orchards offers much more than just a corn maze. During the autumn season, you can pick your own apples and pumpkins...

Take a hayride or horse-drawn farm tour...

Visit the barnyard cuties at the petting zoo...

Or enjoy fresh made apple cider, ice cream, and cider, pumpkin, and chocolate donuts made on-site by the Treworgy "donut robot."

Regular business hours are Tuesday - Sunday 10am - 6:30pm.
