This 200 Year Old Boston Eatery Serves The Best Yankee Comfort Food

Durgin-Park proudly displays their motto above the door - "Established Before You Were Born". Founded in 1827, this restaurant has earned its place in Boston history.
In addition to its iconic heritage, Durgin-Park's convenient Faneuil Hall location and fabulous Yankee-style comfort food make it a favorite among locals and tourists alike!
Faneuil Market was built in 1742 and became an instant success. Before long, a small dining room opened up in a nearby warehouse to capitalize on the foot traffic.
In 1827, Eldridge Park and John Durgin bought the restaurant along with John Chandler and gave it its famous name.
Ironically, it was Chandler - the only owner not to have his name represented in the restaurant - who ran Durgin-Park with his son and grandson for more than 60 years.
Chandler eventually sold the restaurant in the 1940s when his grandson, Jerry was killed in WWII. To honor the Chandler legacy and all the young soldiers lost, the new owner, James Hallett, printed the poem “Just a Boy” on the back of the menu. It is still there today.
Durgin-Park changed hands once more in the 1970s before recently being purchased by New York-based Ark Restaurant Corporation who have vowed to keep it just as it is.
The restaurant's loction inside a 200-year-old warehouse makes for a warm, cozy feel accentuated by the long, communal tables covered in classic red checkered tablecloths.
The warmth and comfort continue with classically Boston menu items such as Yankee pot roast, prime rib and baked beans, and lobster rolls made from fresh, local catch.
Don't forget to top off your visit with a warm bowl of New England Indian Pudding topped with vanilla ice cream!
