Immerse Yourself In Rock History At The Verb Hotel

The Verb Hotel began its nearly 60 year history as the Fenway Motor Hotel on Boylston Street. Built in 1959, the two-story building was considered modernistic for the time.

Over the years, the Fenway neighborhood hosted cultural change and nurtured the Boston music, art and dining scene.

In order to pay homage to the site's rich history, The Verb wanted to preserve its unique style. Instead of a complete gut job, the new owners restored the structure originally designed by 1950's architects Irving Salsberg and Ralph Leblanc.

According to the website, The Verb reconnected with its cultural roots by enlisting the help of local "cultural observers and players, Stephen Mindich, publisher of the Boston Phoenix, and David Bieber, WBCN Creative Services Director and the Boston Phoenix/WFNX Director of Special Projects."

The result is a funky, colorful, retro hotel, restaurant and Japanese pub. 

Out front you'll find a rehabbed 1947 Flxible tour bus and an old school marquee-like sign.

The turquoise-walled lobby is practically wallpapered with Rock n' Roll memoribilia. Peruse the vintage vinyl records, poor yourself a free cup of coffee and relax on the colorful retro furniture draped in faux fur throws.

The rooms display authentic Crosley record players, "retro accents" and "unique Rock & Roll artwork".

In the beautiful inner courtyard, you will find a heated saltwater outdoor pool with a sundeck and free Wi-Fi access.

You can opt to dine poolside or in the on-site izakaya (aka Japanese pub) Hojoko. They serve sushi, sashimi, rice and noodle bowls - even hamburgers! - seven days a week until midnight when they switch to their "Midnight Munchies" menu.
