The Celtics roster should be easy to figure out

The Boston Celtics roster is basically set coming into training camp this season.

However, it's not entirely set. They brought 20 players into camp this year and they have 15 spots. Realistically, we could say they have one more spot on the team open. Let's break it down.

If a player has a 100 percent guaranteed contract, we can safely assume they will be on the roster to start the season, assuming no one gets hurt. Well, that entails 14 players: Jaylen Brown, Carsen Edwards, Gordon Hayward, Enes Kanter, Romeo Langford, Semi Ojeleye, Vincent Poirier, Marcus Smart, Jayson Tatum, Daniel Theis, Kemba Walker, Brad Wanamaker, Grant Williams and Robert Williams.

Now, that leaves six players and some interesting names. Javonte Green falls in the camp of a partially guaranteed contract. Three players--Tacko Fall, Kaiser Gates and Yante Maten-- are on Exhibit 10/Summer Contracts. The contracts those three guys have can be converted to two-way contracts, allowing them to play for the Maine Red Claws. And then there's Max Strus and Tremont Waters, both of whom are already on two-way contracts.

If you are to look at this from a pragmatic standpoint, Green appears to be the favorite to win that 15th spot to start the season. He's on a two-year contract and out of anyone they had in the Summer League, he is the guy they decided to give that more prestigious contract to.

The Celtics have to keep Tacko Fall -- because he has a great name and the fans love him. It would be nice if he started the season on the back end of the team's bench because he did well in the summer, but as long as he stays in the organization that's what matters most.

We'll see what the team ends up doing but hopefully, that clarifies things a little.
