The Bruins have a little youth movement going

The Bruins are actually pretty young this season.

The team with a 40-year-old defenseman (Zdeno Chara) is also one that has a lot of young talent on it. This is evident by the number of guys on the squad (or in Providence now) who have scored their first career NHL goal this season. Let’s take a look at them all

Jake DeBrusk — The Bruins 2015 first round draft pick might be out with an injury for the time being, but he is someone fans should be excited about. The Bruins may be easing the left winger into action, but he does have five goals through his first 21 career NHL games despite not playing a ton (15:09 per game). He could develop into something.

Charlie McAvoy — He’s only 19, but he’s a stud. He’s already playing big minutes (23:37 per game) on defense and already has 15 points (4 goals, 11 assists) this season. That’s good.

Anders Bjork — A former Notre Dame standout, the Bruins 2014 5th round pick has impressed in his development which granted him the opportunity to see time with the NHL club this season. In 18 games, he has put up nine points (3 goals, 6 assists).

Danton Heinen — The 22-year-old forward also played a handful of games for the Bruins last season but benefited from developing down in Providence. Through 21 games this season (where he has averaged 15:40 for ice time), he has 13 points (4 goals, 9 assists).

Sean Kuraly — Kuraly may be a back-end center, but the 24-year-old is another piece of the Bruins youth movement they have going on. He has six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in 25 games this year. The San Jose Sharks 2011 5th round draft pick is playing 11 minutes and 40 seconds per game this season, on average.

Peter Cehlarik — Cehlarik, a left winger, played in five straight games in mid-to-late November and scored his first career NHL goal before getting a leg injury that should keep him out for a couple more week. He made his NHL debut last season.

Matt Grzelcyk — The 23-year-old defenseman and Charlestown native has worked his way into the Bruins back line of defense (13:50 per game). So pretty much, he’s from Boston and plays for the Bruins. If you’re not Jimmy Hayes, that’s a surefire way to be a fan favorite.
