The 8 Most Popular Mexican Restaurants In Boston

Boston residents love their Mexican food, and there is no shortage of fabulously fresh and authentic restaurants to get your fill of tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and more.

According to Foursquare Swarm check-in data from the week of May 5-11, collected by Boston.com, the following 8 hot spots are the most popular Mexican restaurants in the city.

1. Border Cafe, Cambridge

Delicious cajun and Tex Mex-style food and authentic cocktails are menu staples at Border Cafe. Mexican specialties include made-to-order creations like Gaucho Chicken made from tender, marinated chicken breast, grilled over a mesquite wood fire with blackened tomato, and a Chimi Verde sauce, finished with fresh herbs, Chimichurri Steak with rice and black beans, and Swordfish Tacos Veracruz. You can also choose from several delicious vegetarian options.

2. Felipe’s Mexican Taqueria, Harvard Square, Cambridge

Felipe’s is not unique to Boston, there are chain restaurants across the country, but their high standards and simple, authentic recipes have helped them skyrocket to success since opening in 2004. All menu items are made fresh while you watch!

3. Lolita Cocina & Tequila BarBack Bay

Dark, vampy, gothic and stocked with more than 50 of the world’s best tequilas, Lolita Cocina is known for its killer cocktails. The popularity of this establishment may be due to the bar, but they do serve a full menu of Mexican favorites until 11 PM each night. There is also a late night menu to soak up the tequila until 1 AM Thursday through Saturday and 12 AM Sunday through Wednesday.
