5 Must-Visit Beer Gardens To Check Out This Spring

After a long, cold winter, we are all looking for ways to stretch our legs and feel the sun on our shoulders. Luckily, spring 2018 will see a record number of beer gardens and outdoor pop-up bars across the Boston area!
Here are five of the most exciting offerings from local breweries. So grab a few of your closest friends and get yourself outside!
1. American Fresh Beer Garden
Slumbrew's American Fresh Beer Garden offers more than just delicious craft beer on tap. Their regular programming includes an array of entertainment, including board games, bocce tournaments, comedy acts, outdoor trivia and live music. Currently open at 301 Canal Street in Somerville Mondays through Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays from 5 p.m. to midnight, Saturdays from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., weather permiting.
2. The Patios at City Hall Plaza
Wachusett Brewing is offering Pints on the Patio from its iconic airstream trailer seven days a week at the southeast corner of City Hall Plaza. Enjoy your favorite brew while you experience some of the other Patio benefits such as mini golf, ice cream from Honeycomb Creamery and pop-up visits from organizations like Shultz’s Guest Host, who will bring puppies to snuggle every Wednesday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.! The beer garden is open seven days a week at 4 p.m. on weekdays and 11 a.m. on weekends.
3. Trillium Garden on the Greenway
Trillium Brewing's partnership with the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy was such a massive success that they are coming together once again from May through October. The Trillium Garden will be in the same spot on the Greenway at the corner of Atlantic Avenue and High Street with even more space than last year. The current hours are 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays.
4. Notch Traveling Beer Garden
Notch Brewing in Salem is hitting the road with its traveling biergarten. Along with the nonprofit organization, The Trustees, Notch has eight different outdoor pop-up adventures planned for the spring and summer. The biergarten experiences are to be held at eight cultural, farm, and park properties, with the first event taking place Thursday, May 17 at Stevens Coolidge Place in North Andover. Lagers will be served in authentic ceramic steinkrugs and guests will be treated to live music, lawn games, scavenger hunts, and fun runs. 5. Castle Island at Underground
Although it is yet to open, Castle Island Brewing's debut at Underground at Ink Block is highly anticipated. The 5,000 square foot space may be the most unique spot on the list - located beneath the Southeast Expressway. The area will also feature street art and a dog park for an urban experience. Norwood's Castle Island hopes to open at Underground later this spring and will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. through mid-October.
