Support Boston's Black-Owned Businesses This Weekend At The Seaport

This coming Sunday, August 30, 2020 from 12pm – 6pm (date changed from Saturday due to expected storms), Boston's Seaport District will host more than 20 local Black-owned businesses with a pop-up market in honor of Black Owned Business Month.

Black Owned Bos., a local business directory and resource platform for Black-owned businesses, and WS Development, which owns Seaport Common, will host the event.

The Seaport x Black Owned Bos. Market will be an outdoor event at Seaport Common (85 Northern Ave.) Each vendor will have their own tented kiosk featuring a wide range of wares from baked goods to apparel and beauty.

You are sure to find a little something for everyone as well as help raise awareness and generate support for black entrepreneurship.

According to a press release, participating businesses include Clarke’s Cakes & Cookies, a Dorchester bakery devoted to vegan goodies...

Q Made It, an online shop that specializes in pop-culture-inspired merchandise. Their Instagram page reads:

"Products designed for The Culture, experiences curated for Us, & sweets crafted for the soul."

Beauty N Simplicity, which sells a handcrafted line of bath and body products...

and True 9 Accessories, specializing in handmade jewelry pieces that “bridge the gap between urban and corporate wear.”

A full list of participating businesses is available at the Boston Seaport website.

“With the city phasing into the reopening, many vendors and local makers are eager to participate in local markets that are often great networking and customer building opportunities,” Black Owned Bos. founder and managing director Jae’da Turner said in the press release. “Black Owned Bos. is excited to partner with Boston Seaport for this premier Black Owned Bos. Market to support these businesses with a safe and fun way to showcase their business.”

In order to maintain a safe and controlled environment, guests must register and pre-book their 30-minute visit. No more than 50 people (including vendors) will be allowed in the Market Area, per government guidelines.

All guests and staff are required to use face coverings and maintain 6 feet or more from other guests.
