Nostalgic Donut Shop Helps Sweeten Your Quarantine

In times of crisis it is nice to know that some things remain the same. For folks in western Massachusetts, a warm old--fashioned donut from family-run Donut Dip is like a hug from an old friend.

That's why the Shields family has kept the shop open and continues to serve their community. They have adjusted their hours and switched their protocols to encourage social distancing, but the comfort food you know and love remains the same.

It all started in 1957, when bakery manager, Charles Shields opened up his own little donut shop in West Springfield. Alongside his son, Richard, Charles served the community fresh coffee and the finest handmade donuts, created from scratch at the start of each day. Donut Dip was born!

Over the years, the simple concept and dedication to quality made the business a western MA staple. They also expanded their menu to include muffins, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches.

But at Donut Dip, it's all about the donuts!

Choose from a classic Homecut, an Old Fashioned Sour Cream, or a New England favorite Apple Cider donut. Then there's my personal favorite, the sticky-sweet Honey Dip.

They also serve all kinds of cake, raised, filled, and frosted donuts.

In addition to their vast selection of donuts, the shop also cooks up fresh pastries, muffins, cookies, danish, fruit squares, and apple fritters.

Have a craving for something you don't see? Just request it, and Donut Dip will make it especially for you!

Currently, Donut Dip asks that you call ahead for large orders (413-733-9604) and practice social distancing when coming to the store. Customers are asked to refrain from gathering in groups of 3 or more, and families should designate one person to come inside for orders.
