More drama from media at Patriots training camp

Sometimes, you can just see the controversy that the media is trying to cook up from a mile away.

Well, since the New England Patriots training camp started recently, it’s about that time again: what can they talk about on the radio now? What stupid columns can be written about the team? Will it be something new and stupid or something old and stupid? Well, it looks like it’s going to be the latter this time around (for now because we know something else will have to come up at some point).

So: which controversy are they trying to rehash? It’s not the Malcolm Butler benching in the Super Bowl because coach Bill Belichick would not have any of that baloney during his first press conference of the season. HOWEVER… the whole Belichick Alex Guerrero pseudo feud looks like it will be making a comeback. Yay!!!!

The big J’s in the media had to come in with the hard-hitting questions for Belichick. One of ‘em asked if Belichick had changed his policy about Guerrero treating players. Boston.com says he dodged the question, because they want to look tough. Here is what he said:

“We instruct all of our players the same way, and we’ll continue to do that,” Belichick said. “We never want to do anything that we’re not allowed to do. We always want to play and abide by the rules, and we want to, at the same time, do what’s best for the team. So, we’ll continue to instruct all of our players that way in every area.”

Well, yeah. That’s kind of what a team is supposed to do. The players have to live up to their contract. If Rob Gronkowski overdosed on Super Male Vitality, got too muscular and couldn’t play in the NFL anymore, then yeah, the Patriots would have the right to be angry. It’s like what would happen if Brian Hoyer cut his foot off? Exactly.
