The Berkshires Museum That Invites You To Become Part Of The Art

The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) in North Adams is one of the world’s liveliest centers for making and enjoying today’s most evocative art.

It is located on a restored 19th century multi-building factory campus with vast galleries and a stunning collection of indoor and outdoor performing arts venues.

MASS MoCA prides itself on embracing all forms of art including music, sculpture, dance, film, painting, photography, theater, and new, boundary-crossing works of art that "defy easy classification."

In addition to displaying art, MASS MoCA is also devoted to helping artists grow and thrive so they can produce work that is fresh, forward-looking, and engaging of the mind, body, and spirit.

The campus is warm and welcoming with free parking, affordably priced cafés, a full-service restaurant, and an innovative microbrewery that spotlights locally grown malted grains and hops from the Berkshire valley.

The museum consists of 250,000 square feet of open space to inspire and liberate artists. This layout is also kid-friendly with lots of interactive installations for them to enjoy.

Those looking to expand their art education will find a wide range of participatory learning opportunities.

Children will love Kidspace, an art gallery and hands-on studio that offers in-depth art education in partnership with local schools, as well as art camps and free public admission all year round.

Teenagers, teachers, adults, and families can choose from hands-on art-making classes; lectures; Art Assembly performances; artist Q&As; and docent-guided tours.

Each year, MASS MoCA presents more than 75 live performances, including contemporary dance, alternative cabaret, world music dance parties, indie-rock, and progressive bluegrass.

With its spacious courtyards, the museum is also the perfect venue for outdoor silent films with live music, documentaries, and avant-garde theater.

Visit MASS MoCA Thursdays-Mondays from10am-5pm. The museum is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
