Major Broadway Shows Coming Right To The Boston Opera House

If you don’t have the time, money or desire (Yankees suck!) to take a trip to New York City, you can still see some of the best shows Broadway has to offer. All it takes is a drive into Beantown to The Boston Opera House! Here are some of the incredible performances that are heading our way.

Jersey Boys – October 4 – 16, 2016

The musical journey of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons has won 4 Tony Awards and is still going strong. Their journey from blue collar street thugs to one of the most beloved pop groups in history is full of laughs, finger popping hits and heartbreak. It’s a must-see for fans of the band, the movie, or the original Broadway smash hit.

Something’s Rotten! – January 17 – 29, 2017

The brilliantly comical musical that spoofs Shakespeare and classic Broadway hits like Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables first premiered in 2015. Since then it’s garnered critical acclaim, 10 Tony nominations, and the love of theater fans all over the world.

Cabaret – January 31 – February 12, 2017

The Kit Kat Klub in 1930’s Berlin draws the likes of fame-seeking femme fatales, misfits, runaways…and Nazis. The show premiered on Broadway in 1966 and has been a staple of theater culture ever since.

The King & I – April 11 – 23, 2017

Based on the true story of a Siamese King who fell for a simple English governess, The King & I may sound stuffy, but it is anything but! The story of star-crossed lovers is charming, comical and still quite relevant in today’s world of culture clashes. Still not sure it’s for you? Check out the classic 1956 film starring Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr – you’ll be hooked!

Wicked – June 27 – July 23, 2017

Based on the critically acclaimed novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked offers a wildly unique prequel to The Wizard of Oz. Instead of hating the Wicked Witch of the West, you’ll find yourself laughing, crying and rooting for the green faced underdog as she comes of age long before Dorothy’s famous arrival on the scene.

Hamilton – May 1 -31, 2018

The dates are yet to be confirmed, but good luck getting New York tickets before 2018 anyway! This cultural phenomenon took Off-Broadway by storm last year and quickly became the darling of The Great White Way. Hamilton is the musical comedic portrayal of one of America’s Founding Fathers. It might not sound all that exciting, but just ask anyone who’s seen it, and they’ll tell you it’s not to be missed!
