Local Chefs Recommend These Boston Restaurants For Thanksgiving Dinner

Not everyone is willing – or able – to spend several hours preparing Thanksgiving dinner. For those who prefer to let the pros handle the fixins, local culinary experts shared their recommendations for several fabulous Boston-area restaurants serving up savory T-Day feasts with Boston.com.
You can bet these chefs won’t be serving lumpy gravy or dry turkey!
1. Eastern Standard, Boston
Located in Kenmore Square, more chefs recommended Eastern Standard than any other spot. Perhaps that’s why their reservations are so limited. According to the experts, the restaurant offers elegant ambiance and a wide variety of delicious options on its three-course prix fixe Thanksgiving menu. There are traditional Thanksgiving favorites like turkey, mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, and stuffing; plus local favorites such as lobster Newburg and duck breast.
Dinner will be served from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving day.
2. The Smoke Shop, Cambridge
The Smoke Shop will not be offering in-house dining this year, but their take-out menu is sure to win you major props from the family! Choose from an 8 – 10 or 18 – 22 pound whole smoked turkey served with “sexy gravy” and Texas toast stuffing, a honey thyme pork loin ham, or a whole smoked prime brisket for your protein. Sides include green bean casserole and mashed sweet potatoes with candied pecans.
According to executive chef, Nick Calias, of Brasserie Jo and the Colonnade Hotel, the turkey, brisket and dessert butter cake are not to be missed!
Take-out orders must be placed by Sunday, Nov. 19, and picked up on Wednesday, Nov. 22.
3. Deuxave, Boston
Calias is also a fan of the modern-French American fare at Deuxave in the Back Bay. The Thanksgiving day in-house dining menu features appetizers like spiced heirloom pumpkin soup, a traditional turkey and a “turducken,” and decadent desserts like apple tatin and pecan pie bars designed by pastry chef Shaun Velez.
Deuxave is currently taking reservations for their Thanksgiving dinner which will be served from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

4. Boston Chops, Boston
If you are in search of a classically traditional turkey dinner without slaving over the stove, Brendan Pelley, chef de cuisine at Doretta Taverna and Raw Bar, recommends Boston Chops.
“Chris Coombs serves a traditional dinner with all the sides in a very celebratory setting,” Pelley told Boston.com. “Chris gets it. He’s a family man that cooks from heart.”
Dinner will feature a roasted turkey from Misty Knoll Farms, stuffing, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, and mashed sweet potatoes.
Boston Chops is currently taking reservations for dinner from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thanksgiving day.

5. Harvest, Cambridge
Harvest is all about freshness, so while their Thanksgiving menu will be pretty straightforward with offerings like chestnut ginger soup, turkey breast from Misty Knoll Farm, and apple pie for dessert, you can rest assured that each dish will be perfectly prepared from the area’s best ingredients.
A limited number of reservations are still available. Dinner will be served from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The local chefs also mentioned the Russell House Tavern, Scampo, and The Backroom at Moody’s in Waltham for additional Thanksgiving day dining options.
