Mystic Seaport's Lantern Light Tours Are A Beloved Holiday Tradition

There are less than two weeks left to enjoy one of New England's most beloved holiday traditions. From now until December 23, the Mystic Seaport Museum promises visitors "an evening of seasonal surprises" with Lantern Light Tours: Finding Your Place.
The 90-minute walking tour is actually an interactive play set on Christmas Eve in the year 1876.
Costumed actors guide you through five seasonal scenes including a horse-drawn carriage ride, a winter fantasia (spirited circle dance), and an encounter with Santa.
The live performance was written by esteemed playwright Kato McNickle, and "invites us to explore the world and broaden our point of view to better understand our place within it."
Lantern Light Tours involve roughly half a mile of walking and standing on uneven terrain, including cobblestone, wood planking, grass, gravel, and stairs.
Performances also occur in all weather conditions, so audience members are advised to wear seasonal outerwear and comfortable shoes for walking and standing.
While the horse-drawn carriages utilized in the show cannot accommodate wheelchairs, these guests will receive a personalized theatrical alternative. Visitors requiring a wheelchair or with accessibility needs should call 860-572-0711 to book their tour.
Lantern Light Tours are not included with general admission and require a special ticket. While the show is appropriate for children, it is not recommended for kids under four.
