Discover Bigfoot At Portland's International Cryptozoology Museum

Lovers of all things weird simply must take a road trip to Portland, Maine's wildest attraction. The International Cryptozoology Museum is the world's only exhibit of its kind.

It features a mixture of legendary and all-too-real cryptid specimens. Loren Coleman, one of the world's foremost experts in the field of cryptozoology, defines this "gateway science" as:

"The study of hidden or unknown animals. These are usually larger zoological species that, to-date, remain unverified by science, such as Yetis, Bigfoot, Lake Monsters, and Sea Serpents, as well as hundreds of other yet-to-be-found animals (cryptids) worldwide…” It also encompasses the study of animals of recent discovery, such as the coelacanth, okapi, megamouth shark, giant panda, and mountain gorilla.”

Coleman began his unusual pursuit in 1960 and has since collected some of the world's most jaw-dropping specimens including an eight-and-a-half-foot tall, 300-pound replica of the “Crookston Bigfoot,”

A life-size coelacanth,

and a replica of P. T. Barnum’s Feejee Mermaid.

Also among the exhibits are "authentic" cryptid hair samples from the Abominable Snowmen, Bigfoot, Yowie, and the Orang Pendek, as well as fecal material, photographs, and footprint casts.

Don't forget to visit the crypto-store on-site or online for books, t-shirts, magnets, and bumper stickers of your favorite crypto-creatures!

There are surely species out there yet to be discovered, and Coleman’s International Cryptozoology Museum may just inspire the next generation of crptozoologists to go out and find them!
