The restaurant industry has come through in a big way to provide for their community during the coronavirus pandemic. In addition to supplying needy families with meals, many are offering food for first responders.
Here are six local establishments where you can purchase a meal - or several - for the healthcare workers toiling in the frontline trenches to save lives.
&pizza
&pizza is a national chain. Their Hero Pie Program is available at their Cambridge location where they invite diners to purchase a $10 pizza to be delivered to a nearby hospital. The company has also converted several of their pizzarias into Hero Kitchens, dedicated to producing pizza for health care workers with the goal of making over 100,000 pies.
Anna’s Taqueria
Add a few Hero Meals to your burrito order and Anna's will deliver them to first responders at a rotating list of hospitals. $10 meals include a regular burrito, one half portion of tortilla chips, housemade salsa, and a bottle of water.
Café Bonjour
Adopt a Doc/Nurse at Cafe Bonjour, and they will deliver breakfast or lunch to your choice of hospital, including Brigham & Women’s, Beth Israel Deaconess, and Mass General. Choose an assortment of breakfast pastries, bagel boxes, and lunch wrap boxes. You can even include a handwritten thank-you note.
Darryl’s Corner Bar & Kitchen
Nothing soothes the soul like Southern comfort food! Send hearty meals of fried chicken, catfish, and cornbread for frontline workers through this online order form. All meals are delivered to Boston Medical Center’s Emergency Department staff.
Orinoco
Orinoco's Latin kitchen hopes to deliver 500 meals per week to Beth Israel Deaconess, Mass General, and Tufts Medical Center. Diners can purchase meals directly on the website or by donating to Orinoco's Venmo account.
Roxy’s
If you are looking to make an even bigger contribution, the Feed Our Front Line package at Roxy's supplies 50 health care workers at your choice of a hospital with hot meals. Delivery is included in the $500 price tag, and each order gets a shout-out on Roxy’s social media pages.
