Gronk’s suspension doesn’t matter

Gronk’s suspension doesn’t matter

Oh no. Hell has frozen over. The NFL is out to get the New England Patriots… again.

Not really. Rob Gronkowski did something really dumb and got a light penalty for it. TBH, this really should’ve been a bigger deal than deflategate seeing how Tom Brady shouldn’t have been suspended at all and then Gronk should’ve gotten more than one game for his hit in the Bills game.

Let’s break this thing down.

Yes. That’s some of the worst defensive holding I’ve seen. But, if you can get away with it, you’d be crazy not to do it. The referees deserve flak for that.

I get Gronk is frustrated because of it, but that hit is just awful on so many levels. People like to talk about the toughness of football and manliness and stuff but as someone who played football for five years and has a state championship ring to show for it I can explain the real purpose: to score more points than the other team.

Trying to intentionally injure people is not real football. In fact, that’s criminal. Imagine someone doing what Gronk did off of a football field. They’d be in jail and possibly see prison time, rightfully so. The last thing we need is another Patriots tight end in prison.

Tre’ White, who took the hit, had to be taken off the field and was sent into concussion protocol.

Anyone who has had a concussion knows it is one of the worst feelings in the world. They cause permanent brain damage and brain damage leads to much worse things.

I’ve had multiple (at least 2) concussions, so it hits home to see this sort of thing. Plus, a lot of times I wear sunglasses to look at a screen if I’m writing a lot because it hurts my head less. That’s not something you want to see others go through.

That’s a lot of rambling to get to the point but yeah, if Gronk doesn’t play against the Miami Dolphins, so what? They’re 20-5 without him over the course of his NFL career and the Dolphins aren’t a good team. The Pats could probably beat Miami with Brian Hoyer under center.

And so what if they couldn’t? Then what? They’re 10-3? That’s still great.

Plus, they’ll have Gronk gets a little more rest for the quick turnaround–a Thursday game against Pittsburgh.
