Enjoy Authentic Rhode Island "Dynamites" At This Roadside Luncheonette

If you were born and raised in the Ocean State, Dynamites need no explanation. But for the rest of the world, these delicious treats are aptly described by Quahog.com as:

"Sandwich[es] consisting of fried hamburger, peppers, onions, tomato sauce, and crushed red pepper, served on a torpedo roll. It's mostly a make-at-home kind of thing, like sloppy joes, but they can also be found at fairs, festivals, and a few eateries in Woonsocket."

One of these Woonsocket eateries features arguably the best dynamites Rhode Island has to offer - The Castle Luncheonette.

Operating in Woonsocket since the 1950s, the Castle Luncheonette began as a simple lunch cart.

The modest building features cozy booths and a retro vibe. It is the perfect spot to relive your Rhode Island childhood and enjoy a favorite nostalgic meal.

Open Monday - Saturday from 11 a.m. - 7 p.m, the Castle's dynamites consist of juicy hamburger, peppers, onions, tomatoes, and crushed red peppers simmered to perfection and served on a torpedo roll.

In addition to their award-winning dynamites, the Castle also serves other Rhode Island favorites such as "stuffies," grilled or steamed hotdogs, fresh cut haddock for fish and chips, clam cakes made from local whole belly clams, fried shrimp, and fresh bay scallops.

Be sure to add an order of hand cut fries or onion rings to your meal!

Like all vintage roadside joints in coastal New England, the Castle Luncheonette serves ice cream for dessert. Try the banana split, locals say it's the best!
