Enjoy Adult Twists On Kid-Inspired Snacks At These Boston Restaurants

As a child we enjoy the simple things: a popsicle on a hot summer day, a plate of spaghetti, or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich with an ice cold glass of milk.

As we get older, our tastes tend to mature with us, and these pleasures fall by the wayside.

If you still daydream about the simpler times, some of Boston's finest restaurants have embraced a concept that may bring a smile to your inner child.

These four local hot spots are offering kid-inspired treats with a decidedly adult twist! They have you covered with fun, whimsical dishes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert!

Start with a homemade Pop Tart at  Flour Bakery + Cafe.  This creation is the brainchild of Chef Joanne Change. Flour began its reign in 2000 and now supports eight locations. They offer all sorts of decadent desserts, but the layer of jam sandwiched between pie crust is the only way to start your busy adult day.

Lunch is served at Democracy Brewing, where Pizza Bagels will keep your belly quiet until dinner. This after-school favorite is made with adult-sized bagels in three select styles: the Sausage, Broccoli, Ricotta Bagel; the Everything Bagel; or the Margherita Pizza Bagel.

If you can't decide, order the sampler and try all three!

Lastly, for a decadent dinner-and-dessert combo fit for a 'Tween, stop by Longfellow Bar and Dough Life.  At Longfellow sample the grownup version of Pigs in a Blanket: Italian pork sausage wrapped in dough, deep fried, and covered in black truffle honey and dijonnaise mustard. YUM.

Finish off your day of childhood living by eating that forbidden cookie dough your momma warned you about at Dough Life!

They offer several flavors like Mint Dynasty, the Classic Chip, and Lady in Red, to name a few. Don't worry, Dough Life uses heat-treated flour, so salmonella is not an issue!
