Chris Sale favored to win the AL Cy Young

Do you need numbers to give you confidence in Chris Sale?

If you answered yes to that question, then here’s one that’ll help you sleep at night: Sale is favored to win the American League Cy Young Award. That’s right, Oddshark gives him 2:1 odds at earning the award.

Of course, it shouldn’t be too surprising Sale is on the Cy Young watch already. He’s pretty much been in the top-5 in voting every big league season he’s played in, so why would that change?

Taking a look down the list, David Price has a +550 moneyline when it comes to earning the award. And they don’t think Rick Porcello has a dog in the fight either; the defending Cy Young award winner has a +3300 moneyline. So yeah, even though he had his best season yet as he comes back from Saturn’s Return, he’s still got haters.

Seriously, you would’ve thought his odds would’ve skyrocketed when he made Tim Tebow look foolish Wednesday afternoon.

Remember now, this ain’t no guarantee. Price was favored to win the AL Cy Young Award his first season in Boston and no one would’ve guessed Porcello would win the Cy Young last year, so crazy stuff can happen.

The Red Sox are one of three teams with players listed in the Cy Young fight; the Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue Jays are the other two. Now if only the Blue Jays had a lineup that could match Boston’s.

Red Sox fans probably think it would be cool if Sale won the Cy Young. Well, maybe it would be. But in the end, it doesn’t really matter if he wins it. If he pitches like Chris Sale did on the White Sox and doesn’t get snippy, that’s all they can ask. That would be great, you know, dawg?
