Chowdaheadz and The Jimmy Fund
Chowdaheadz is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Rally Against Cancer campaign for the past three years and once again in 2021. The Rally Against Cancer campaign encourages people to start a team or join colleagues in donating $10 to the Jimmy Fund and then wear Red Sox gear to work or school on opening day. Chowdaheadz wanted to do, even more, so each year they have come up with different ways to help raise more money for this awesome cause.
Three years ago, for every two t-shirts sold during a two week period, Chowdaheadz put together a Baseball Swag Bag for a Dana-Farber patient and delivered it themselves. The smiles on the children’s faces were heartwarming.
After finding ways to help with fundraising Chowdaheadz was still looking for ways to help the patients through an unbelievably difficult time. In 2018 they invited a special Dana-Farber patient named Jane to come to the office and design her own t-shirt. They then put that t-shirt on sale for everyone to buy with the profits being donated back to the Jimmy Fund. You can watch exactly how that all happened here
in 2019 Chowdaheadz designed two t-shirts, specifically for the Rally Against Cancer campaign. 100% of the profits from each shirt sold will go directly to the Jimmy Fund! The #DoDamage2Cancer t-shirt honors our 9th MLB World Championship and was inspired by our home town legend Ted Williams, #9. Ted Williams was a huge advocate for the Jimmy Fund and inspired many to support cancer research.
The “Rally Like a Champion” t-shirt was inspired by the many wicked awesome New Englanders that rally around The Jimmy Fund each year to raise money for this incredibly important cause.
After designing the “Rally Like a Champion” t-shirt they wanted to do something special with it. They printed out a few of the tees and headed over to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. They found a studio inside and set up a mock photoshoot for some of the patients to join in and distract them from the real reason they were there. It was a great way for them to get away and put a smile on their faces. You can see all of the smiling faces here.
2019 was an especially exciting year for the Chowdaheadz partnership with the Jimmy Fund. Chowdaheadz was invited onto the field before a Sox/Yankees game, along with the captains of two teams who raised the most money for the Rally Against Cancer, to present the biggest check in Rally history to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, $500,000 for this years’ fundraising efforts of everyone involved.
