Celtics should be loaded… with rookies

There’s gonna be a lot of rookies on this season’s Boston Celtics roster.

Sure, the Celtics made it to the Eastern finals last season and had a relatively experienced team, but they’re going to bring in some younger players to round out there roster this season. Here’s a look at the five rookies who come into camp with guaranteed contracts:

Jayson Tatum — The third overall pick put up 16.8 points per game with 7.3 rebounds in his only season at Duke. He has a lot of potential and the C’s should work him in about as much as they did with Jaylen Brown last season.

Semi Ojeleye — The C’s picked up the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year with the 37th pick of this past NBA Draft.

Guerschon Yabusele — He was named a CBA All-Star in China last year as he put up 20.9 points and 9.4 rebounds per game as a member of the Shanghai Sharks. The Celtics selected him 16th overall in 2016.

Daniel Theis — The 25-year-old big man played for the Washington Wizards summer league team in 2014, but then he went back to Germany. In his home country, he was an All-Star each of the last four seasons and was named defensive player of the year in the EuroLeague this past season.

Abdel Nader — Selected in the second round (58th overall) by the Celtics in the 2016 NBA Draft, the Iowa State grad had a strong year with the Maine Red Claws last season. He put up 21.3 points per game and was named the D-League’s Rookie of the Year because of it.

Even if these guys are not putting up huge minutes for the Celtics, it shows them taking advantage of those picks they’ve stashed to build some depth up on their NBA roster. Should be interesting to see what these guys can do.
