Bruins linked to Kevin Hayes in trade rumors

The Boston Bruins may be looking for some help at the forward position, and rumor has it they are looking at a Dorchester native to potentially fill the void.

No, we're not talking about Jimmy Hayes. This is about his older brother Kevin Hayes, the center for the New York Rangers; Jimmy Hayes is a member of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins that the moment--down in the AHL.

According to NESN, Bruins GM Don Sweeney confirmed the Bruins were looking for help in this department--and 98.5 The Sports Hub noted this could maybe work out.

“In addition to Friedman’s reporting, a separate source has confirmed to 98.5 The Sports Hub that the Bruins are expected to be among those most interested in adding Hayes to their roster via trade this season,” Ty Anderson wrote for the radio station. “The Bruins will clearly have a ton of competition for the 6-foot-5 center, as Friedman mentioned the Colorado Avalanche as a possible suitor, while a source has told 98.5 The Sports Hub that the Winnipeg Jets could and should also be considered a top contender for the 26-year-old.”

In case you were wondering, Hayes is a pretty darn good player. He has amassed seven goals and 21 assists in 30 games this season and is a pretty consistently good player. After all, he has put up three 40-point seasons in the past four years, so he is definitely competent.

Plus, he would probably have a lot of fans if he came back home to Massachusetts. If he were to end up in Beantown, hopefully he would not end up like Jimmy. That did not work out so well, you have to admit.

Whatever they end up doing though, getting some help on the attack is not a bad idea; they could certainly use it right about now.
