Bibliophiles Rejoice! The Boston Book Festival Is Coming

Do you love reading, writing, or just the smell of vintage books? Then don't miss the Boston Book Festival !

The free literary event is celebrating its 10th year with a gathering of 285 authors in Copley Square on Saturday, Oct.13.

The official website reads:

"The Boston Book Festival celebrates the power of words to stimulate, agitate, unite, delight, and inspire by holding year-round events culminating in an annual, free Festival that promotes a culture of reading and ideas and enhances the vibrancy of our city."

Among the famous names participating in this year's panel discussions, interviews, workshops, and readings are former Secretary of State John Kerry and actress, Justine Bateman.

John Kerry has written and co-written several books. His most recent, Every Day Is Extra, is his own personal story of his childhood as a diplomat's son, decorated Vietnam veteran, and American politician.

Bateman's book, Fame: The Hijacking of Reality, describes her experience as a young celebrity on Family Ties and beyond. It also explores Hollywood's treatment of women in a time when that subject is at its most controversial.

James Beard Award-winning food writer Michael Pollan, Pulitzer Prize-winning literary historian Stephen Greenblatt, and New York Times best-selling author Madeline Miller will also be in attendance.

Last year, about 25,000 and 30,000 people attended the festival and this year is expected to be just as crowded, if not more so.
