Back to the Jimmy G and Brissett show

The last week of Tom Brady’s suspension won’t be as bad as expected.

It looked like the Patriots might have to go out and add another quarterback or worse: start Julian Edelman. But it doesn’t look that way not. Now, it looks like Jimmy Garoppolo and Jacoby Brissett could both be healthy for Sunday’s contest between the Buffalo Bills. Great! So who do you start?

You’re kidding me, right? Jimmy G all the way if he’s good to go. No doubt about that. And if not, then you go with Brissett. Yes, the Patriots won with Brisett under center, but he’s not a strong thrower like Jimmy. He played a game manager role — completing 11 of his 19 passes for 103 yards. On the other hand, I really wasn’t sure if I was watching Jimmy G. or Tom Brady in the first half of that Miami game.

That dude is good.

Patriots fans can rest easy knowing that’ll be the team’s backup quarterback for the rest of the season. And the team can win with their third stringer under center. Just imagine what’s about to come with Tom Brady back under center.

You’re welcome, Beatles fans.

The Pats actually have potential to go 4-0 in these games without Brady. But don’t call that Brady hate. Just think how good that means the rest of the team is. Some might call this the strongest Patriots team ever. Well, maybe it is. It’s a deep team under center. That’s for sure. But ignore the quarterback situation and consider how they shutout the Houston Texans and how banged up they are as a team right now. It’s impressive.

And when Brady does return on Oct. 9, it should be pretty saweet. They’re playing the Cleveland Browns so who knows? Maybe Jimmy G sees some garbage time in that one.
