72nd Annual Maine Lobster Fest (July 31st-August 4th)
Maine Lobster Fest is a five-day event on the coastline of Rockland Maine. This festival includes fresh lobster dinners, live entertainment, cooking contests, carnival rides, and local Maine artists and craftsmen for the festival goers. Go enjoy endless food and events all festival long!
Maine Lobster Fest takes food very seriously. Last year the Maine Lobster Fest served over 19,000 pounds of lobster. You can find all things lobster in the Main Eating Tent which overlooks the Penobscot Bay. In this tent, you can get fresh Lobstah Rolls, Lobstah Mac’n’cheese, Lobstah Bisque, Lobstah Wontons, Lobstah Stuffed Risotto Balls, and much more! If you get sick of lobstah, you also can enjoy steamed or fried clams, summer fair food options, and steamed mussels! On Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday there will be an all you can eat pancake breakfast. For just $6 for adults and $3 a kid, you can enjoy blueberry pancakes, sausage, coffee, milk, and juice!
Each year non-professional chefs compete in the Maine Lobster Fest Seafood Cooking Competition. This event attracts broadcast media channels as well as visitors from all over the world! Anyone over the age of 18 can compete and they compete for a $525 money prize. Chefs can create any dish that includes seafood found in the Maine waters. Judges select a winner based on creativity, how the seafood tastes in the recipe and simplicity. The Maine Lobster Festival Seafood Cooking Contest starts on Friday, August 2nd at 9:30 AM. The Festival also includes a Fine Art and Craft Tent. In the Fine Art Tent you can find art from local artists like oil paintings, photography, and watercolor. In the Craft Tent, you will be able to find pottery, woven baskets, homemade fudge, and other Maine products made by local crafters.
A fun event that will also be occurring at the Maine Lobster Fest is the "Great International Lobster Crate Race.” Anyone is welcome to participate if they don’t mind falling into the chilly Maine ocean water in front of thousands of people! This event happens on the last day of the festival- Sunday, August 4th at 7:00 am.
