6 Of The World’s Best Hotels Are Right Here In New England

Travel + Leisure magazine is well known for its annual World’s Best Awards. They recently released their list of the Top 100 hotels in the world and six of them can be found right in our own backyards – four in Massachusetts and two in Vermont. The hotels were ranked based on the quality of their rooms and facilities, locations, services, food, and overall value.

So the next time your out-of-town friends ask for a recommendation or you need a weekend getaway, consider these top-ranked acommodations.

#15: Twin Farms All Inclusive Resort & Spa

Twin Park is the highest ranking of the six New England hotels at #15. This bucolic resort set on 300 beautiful acres in Barnard, Vermont not only scored in the top 20 best hotels on the entire planet, it also earned the number one spot on Travel + Leisure’s list of Top 10 hotels in the Northeast.  According to the magazine, it “feels like a magical summer camp for grown-ups.”

The all-inclusive resort boasts quaint luxury with its four-suite farmhouse and 10 unique cottages. Chef Nathan Rich is known for wowing guests with culinary delights like lemon soufflé pancakes (named one of T+L‘s best dishes in the country), and the resort has a 15,000-bottle wine cellar to ensure perfect pairings. The next top scorer in New England is another Vermont resort, the Rabbit Hill Inn, located in Lower Waterford. Nestled in the beautiful White Mountains, this romantic Bed & Breakfast offers traditional, American country, modern, and transitional decor in its 19 private rooms. Most suites have working fireplaces and many boast whirlpool tubs for two. The final four New England hotels are located in Massachusetts, with this Cape Cod destination taking the #54 spot. Located in scenic Chatham on the elbow of the Cape, the Wequassett Resort & Golf Club features 120 lavish guest suites, four restaurants, two pools, and access to two beaches. They have been recognized by Forbes Travel Guide, Conde Nast Traveler, and the Zagat Restaurant Review, just to name a few. The gorgeous Carriage House Stables and Potting Shed date back to the late 19th century, and the 220 acre property retains much of its historic charm to this day. Luxury acommodations, fine dining, and a full-service spa make Blantyre well worthy of its spot on the list.

 

#82: White Elephant Village

Nantucket’s White Elephant Village tied Alberta, Canada’s Post Hotel and Spa for the #82 spot on T + L‘s list. Located steps from lovely Children’s Beach, this resort is decked out in modern furnishings with island-inspired touches. They offer a luxury spa, resort-style pool, and locally-sourced award-winning dining.

 

#96: The Inn at Hastings Park

Squeaking onto the list at #96, the Inn at Hastings Park in Lexington, MA is just 15 miles from Boston and boasts three historical buildings dating back to 1888. When guests are through exploring the rich history of Lexington and nearby Concord, they can enjoy the farm-fresh, ever-changing menus at the Inn’s restaurant, Artistry on the Green.
