Fastest Journey from Newport to Bermuda By Yacht
On April 20, 2015 Renaud Laplanche and Ryan Breymaierhe completed the fastest journey from Newport, RI to Bermuda (635 nautical miles) by yacht in 23 hours 9 minutes and 52 seconds. They had a crew of six and achieved their time sailing the 105 ft Trimaran Lending Club.
Longest Power Assisted Bicycle Backflip
Kevin “KRob” Robinson actually failed in his first attempt to set this record on the live ESPN special “America’s Navy Presents World of X Games KRob Flips Providence.” However, he got back up and achieved the record-breaking back flip with his second attempt. The power-assisted bicycle back flip measured 84 feet and took place on August 13, 2016.
The world’s largest sock was created by Project Undercover, Inc. and designed to resemble a ‘sock monkey’ puppet. It consisted of nearly 600 feet of cotton material as well as required nearly 42,000 feet of cotton thread to create. The final measurements were 32 ft 7 in x 22 ft 6 in x 8 ft 2 in and was unveiled at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island, USA, on December 2, 2011.
Most Football Touches In 30 Seconds (Male)
On April 12, 2010 Parker Kuklinski set up a a high-speed camera that recorded the normally 30-frames-per-second video to a speed of 12 frames per second, and recorded his attempt at this record against a backlit wall at the Portsmouth High School Gym in Portsmouth, Rhode Island. He was able to set the record for the most touches of a football in 30 seconds while keeping the ball in the air at 252 touches.

Youngest Person To Sail The Atlantic Solo
At the age of 17 years 176 days, David Sandeman of the UK sailed across the Atlantic solo between Jersey, UK, and Newport, Rhode Island in a 35 ft long vessel named the Sea Raider in 1976. The voyage lasted 43 days.
